Peach State Health Plan's Partnership with the Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society Provides Resources and Education to Support Women's Health in Georgia
ATLANTA, Sept. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- At the annual meeting of the Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, Peach State Health Plan announced an educational initiative, with support from both agencies, that will seek to reduce the number of unplanned and at-risk teen pregnancies in Georgia.
Peach State Health Plan, which created a long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) teaching model to train medical residency students on the proper use of LARC devices, donated five LARC teaching models to the organization. The models, which have an approximate value of $6,000, will be used during a series of seminars at perinatal centers and major delivery hospitals across Georgia.
Peach State Health Plan has partnered with the Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society on all phases of this initiative, including the development of educational materials, a previous donation of a $25,000 grant and the statewide educational seminar initiative.
