Peebles and Witkoff Present the Healthcare Team and Plan for Long Island College Hospital

NEW YORK, May 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --  The Peebles Corporation and The Witkoff Group, along with our respected team of healthcare providers – Maimonides Medical Center, North Shore-LIJ Health System, ProHEALTH, and the Institute for Family Health – look forward to engaging with SUNY to redevelop the LICH campus and assure uninterrupted access to a broad array of healthcare services focused on meeting the needs of the surrounding communities.

The Project Team is eager to demonstrate how its proposal responds to the requirements of the SUNY RFP. We plan to provide continuity of healthcare services on Day 1, and will develop the project in partnership with the community, working with government agencies to secure the required approvals. The focus will be on meeting the objectives outlined in our proposal:

• Maintain uninterrupted access to Emergency Care that  will serve as the new gateway for the community to both receive care and connect to primary, urgent, specialty, residential and inpatient care
• Develop a federally qualified health center (FQHC) to provide primary and preventative care to residents of Redhook/Gowanus
• Develop a new ambulatory care pavilion which will offer primary and medical/surgical specialty services, including a Cancer Treatment Center, Ambulatory Surgery services, Cardiac Care Center, Imaging Center and specialized programs focused on women and children, chronic illnesses, behavioral health and geriatric care
• Develop the LICH campus in a manner that respects and complements the character of the neighboring communities

All programs will be coordinated with one another and embrace a Population Health approach, focused on improving the health of the communities we will serve.

The final Healthcare Project Plan will evolve from a formal Community Health Needs Assessment. This will be a data-driven, transparent and highly engaged cooperative effort between the development team and community leaders.

We are confident that our team will succeed in achieving a final agreement with SUNY that not only meets the requirements of the RFP but, most importantly, meets the vital healthcare needs of the community.

Maimonides Medical Center

North Shore-LI J Health System 

The Health System is widely recognized for its unique approach to clinical integration and coordination of care, connecting community-based services to its vast network of high-quality tertiary care centers across the diverse geography of the metropolitan area. Its size and scope allow North Shore-LIJ to immediately assume responsibility for operations of the ER at LICH. The Health System also will open Manhattan's first free-standing ER this summer, restoring around-the-clock emergency services to the West Village following the closure of St. Vincent's Medical Center four years ago.

ProHEALTH

As one of the  largest independent multi-specialty physician groups in New York State, ProHEALTH delivers high-quality care to its patients, focused not only on treatment of disease and management of chronic illness, but on attaining and maintaining good health. ProHEALTH is an experienced developer and operator of urgent care, primary and specialty ambulatory care facilities, and already has a presence in the LICH community.

Institute for Family Health

The Institute is a federally-qualified health center (FQHC) committed to high-quality, affordable healthcare for all, particularly those who have had limited access to care. Throughout its 27 practice locations, all patients are accepted regardless of ability to pay. The Institute led the effort, in partnership with the Harlem community, to maintain continuity of care to residents during the transition of North General Hospital into a comprehensive ambulatory care center.
