Pennsylvania Council on Aging Presents Awards for Leadership and Service to Seniors
HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Department of Aging today announced that the Pennsylvania Council on Aging has presented awards for leadership and service on behalf of older Pennsylvanians.
The awards went to:
- Edith Wynona Burrell-Hilton, Kennett Square, Chester County, for her 25 years of work with families who are coping with people who are very ill or have severe disabilities and those needing end-of-life care.
- Chet Grissinger, Huntingdon, for his many years of service in programs for older people and most recently as president of Standing Stone Senior Citizens.
- Ray Humphrey, Castanea, Clinton County, for logging over 1,000 hours as a volunteer for APPRISE, the ombudsman program and senior centers, and for delivering meals-on-wheels.
- Laurel Area Faith in Action, Latrobe and Ligonier, Westmoreland County, for its dedicated staff and volunteers who provide the opportunity for older adults to continue to live and receive services in their homes.
The council, created in 1977, advises the Governor, the General Assembly and the Department of Aging on the planning and delivery of services provided by the department and other state agencies.
