PennWell do Brasil accepting nominations for 2014 Projects of the Year until Sept. 10

SAO PAULO, Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- PennWell do Brasil, organizer of the co-located electricity generation, transmission and distribution events of Powering Up Brasil, is accepting Projects of the Year submissions until Sept. 10.

The purpose of the awards is to recognize and support innovative projects and cases with relevant content and potential to generate significant changes in the industry. To qualify, a project must be tied to a utility company.

"The projects may be on paper or already in development," said Eduardo Gondim, of PennWell do Brasil. "Most important is that the project is well-structured with a viability study."

Six projects will be awarded—two projects that correspond to each Powering Up Brasil event: POWER-GEN Brasil, HydroVision Brasil and DistribuTECH Brasil. Winners will be announced during a 10 a.m., Oct. 21 ceremony at the Powering Up Brasil inaugural session. Powering Up Brasil is scheduled Oct. 21-23 at the Transamerica Expo Center in Sao Paulo. Winning projects also will gain international visibility through articles to be published in PennWell Corp. publications.

Winners will be selected by a qualified jury of PennWell do Brasil members and an editorial board from PennWell Corp. publications such as Power Engineering International, Renewable Energy World, COSPP, HRW-Hydro Review Worldwide, Hydro Review and POWERGRID International.

"Our main goal is to encourage and promote projects that can bring significant changes to the industry and to the country," Gondim said.
