Pensacola's Foo Foo Festival Celebrates Art and Culture
City marked as must-visit travel destination
PENSACOLA, Fla., Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Art, Culture and Entertainment, Inc. (ACE) announces the official schedule for the fourth annual Foo Foo Festival, Nov. 2 – 13 in Pensacola, Fla., offering a variety of experiences that cater to art seekers and entertainment lovers.
Foo Foo Festival's 12-day roster celebrates cuisine, music, art and theater with programming from 19 grant recipients. Returning events include the US Navy's Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show at NAS Pensacola, the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival and Pensacola Marathon.
During the first weekend, the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival hosts more than 200 of the nation's praised painters, potters, sculptors, jewelers and craftsmen. Festival goers will have the opportunity to buy and speak to the artists behind the work.
This year's musical highlight, Awakenings, celebrates the culture of downtown Pensacola portrayed through imagery and music with Pensacola: Then & Now, a symphonic photochoreography (a blend of panoramic photography with live classical music) on Nov. 4.
The Pensacola Museum of Art at the University of West Florida's, "CUBED" exhibit invites viewers to witness live painting as artists create murals on giant cubes, with an individual painting on each side. Festival goers can also walk the downtown streets shaded by hundreds of colorful floating umbrellas with the Umbrella Sky Project, first exhibited in Portugal. These unique artistic demonstrations are sure to inspire social media fanatics to record their best stories to share with their followers.
On Nov. 10 and Nov. 12 Pensacola turns up the heat with María de Buenos Aires, a surreal, genre-bending opera, complete with dancers, opera singers and an orchestra. Hailed as a "can't miss" by the Los Angeles Times.
The best BBQ party on the coast takes over the Blue Wahoos' Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 12 for the annual Pensacola EggFest. 100 Big Green Eggs® line up inside the stadium where diners sample foods cooked by the Big Green Egg masters and judged by Chefs John Besh and Pitmaster Big Moe Cason.
