KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Eight hundred Kansas City families in need will receive enough food to supplement meals for a week plus daily essentials, thanks to a partnership between PepsiCo and Feed the Children. The event kicks off on Tuesday, June 13 at 11 a.m. CDT at Central High School, 3221 Indiana Ave., Kansas City, Mo.
This is the first year PepsiCo and Feed the Children have partnered to help feed families in Kansas City, where more than 22 percent of the population lives below the poverty line1. This distribution event is part of a larger initiative between the two organizations to help feed communities in cities throughout the United States.
The receiving families have been identified and preselected by Operation Breakthrough, a Kansas City-based not-for-profit corporation working to provide a nurturing and safe environment for children of the working poor.
"We're excited to partner with Feed the Children, Operation Breakthrough and Price Chopper helping our friends and neighbors in the Kansas City community," said Nick Ebert, sales zone director, Midwest sales Kansas City zone, PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division. "Frito-Lay and PepsiCo are committed to giving back to our communities where we live and work, and providing enough food to supplement meals for a week is a small way we can help make a difference."
