In partnership with Athletics Canada, Nike introduces sleek new look for Canadian Track and Field athletes for Summer 2012
TORONTO, July 10, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, Nike athletes Phylicia George, Sarah Wells, and Justyn Warner along with Nike Creative Director Scott Williams, and Athletics Canada Head Coach and Director Alex Gardiner were on hand to reveal the new and innovative performance apparel that will be worn by Canada's elite athletes on their quest for record-breaking performances this summer.
Canadian Track & Field athletes will be able to take advantage of the ground breaking performance innovations that Nike has continuously evolved, with the goal of maximizing athlete velocity. Nike's Project Swift apparel has incorporated over 1,000 hours of wind tunnel testing and insights from some of the fastest athletes in the world. The new Nike Pro TurboSpeed collection is not only Nike's swiftest track apparel to date, it is also the most sustainable.
"The key to our design principle is superior lightweight performance. The innovations that we have utilized in these new designs can help make the athlete faster," said Nike Creative Director Scott Williams. "Nike's Project Swift apparel collection for Team Canada includes those innovations while at the same time incorporating bold design and sleek graphics. Overall, this new collection reflects Canada's national identity."
The Canadian Track and Field Uniforms incorporate the following innovations:
| Zoned Aerodynamics: Just as a golf ball's dimples are designed to help it go farther and faster, Nike uses a similar idea to help reduce the aerodynamic drag of the athlete. Using revolutionary Nike AeroSwift technology, patterns and surface architectures informed directly by wind tunnel data are strategically placed on key areas of the athlete's form. | Minimized Distraction: Promoting focus by eliminating distractions, this new generation of Project Swift employs the new technology Nike AeroSwift to keep the interior surface of Nike Pro TurboSpeed as smooth, even and uninterrupted as possible. By placing elastics and edge finishes on the outside of the garment and incorporating an innovative flat, smooth waistband, bulkiness and abrasions are virtually eliminated. | |||
