PALM SPRINGS, Calif., June 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Peter Iannone, CPA, has been elected president of the California Society of CPAs (CalCPA) Education Foundation for 2014-15 at the annual meeting of the CalCPA Council.
Addressing CalCPA's leaders, Iannone, chief financial officer for CTS Engines, noted that the foundation now offers a free four-hour ethics course as a benefit to CalCPA members. It also delivers continuing professional education (CPE) to 38 partner states through webcasting and on demand.
"We aim to provide content that is relevant to a variety of financial professionals as per our charter," said Iannone. He pointed out that even small businesses need to be aware of international financial reporting standards and lease accounting in order to effectively compete on the global stage.
He said the foundation will continue to focus on four key areas:
- Increasing outreach to members and other financial professionals,
- Improving and expanding the quality of products and services,
- Collaborating more closely with CalCPA on cross-marketing and cross-selling, and
- Creating more partnerships with associations and other entities.
Iannone holds a master's degree in business administration from California Lutheran University and bachelor's degrees in accounting and business law from Babson College in Massachusetts.
