Peter J. Laitmon Named CEO of Oxygen World, Inc.
NEW YORK, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Peter J. Laitmon, a veteran sales and marketing executive who reintroduced the classic Vespa motor scooter to North America, has been named CEO of Oxygen World, Inc., manufacturer of the first zero-emissions, 100 percent electric scooter, it was announced today.
Mr. Laitmon, with over 35 years of experience in innovative sales and marketing, reintroduced the Vespa scooter in 2000, returning it to its place as an icon of style and function in the United States, as it has been in Italy for more than 50 years.
Oxygen, which rivals the Vespa in style and power but produces zero emissions from its proprietary Direct Drive Propulsion System, has been successfully employed by the Swiss Postal Service, which runs 1,000 of Oxygen's cargo model, the first scooter specifically designed for delivery.
"Oxygen is the perfect fleet vehicle for small package delivery," said Mr. Laitmon. "Its quiet efficiency leaves no environmental footprint. In addition to presenting for use by fleets, the CargoScooter is equally at home on college campuses for security, administration, and maintenance. In addition to being economical to run, it is quite impressive in regard to function and versatility."
Mr. Laitmon will shortly begin setting up a national dealer network for North America, including the Caribbean as well.
