TRACY, Calif., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Petz Enterprises, Inc. (PEI), makers of the CrossLink suite of professional tax software solutions for high-volume retail tax offices, today announced support for two-dimensional (2D) barcode scanning for CrossLink 1040 and CrossLink Multi-Site Online.
"CrossLink customers can now start a return and capture all of the data on the Form W-2 or Schedule K-1 by simply scanning the 2D barcode on those forms with a CrossLink certified hand-held scanner," stated Charles Petz, CPA, Vice President of Tax Software Development. "This feature will significantly improve the efficiency of the high-volume tax office by enabling them to capture and populate the data with a single-click."
2D barcodes are currently available on Schedules K-1, and will be available on W-2s beginning with Tax Year 2010. All CrossLink certified hand-held scanners have the ability to capture the data in the 2D barcode with 100% accuracy and automatically start the process of preparing a return.
"Utilizing the tools provided within CrossLink allows our Tax Consultants to spend more time on the tax return than navigating the tax software. For example, the ability to start a tax return by scanning the bar codes on W-2s will save our business hundreds of hours over the course of the tax season. Solutions like this from CrossLink not only improve the efficiency of our offices but also improves the customer experience of our clients by ensuring data entry mistakes are not made," commented Louis Arena, Chief Operating Officer, R&G Brenner.
"2D Barcode scanning will speed tax return processing, shorten client interviews and build on our long-standing support for hand-held scanners including our Scan & Store solution," Petz said in closing.
