LONDON, September 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Record numbers of global pharmaceutical companies and CROs, including Abbvie, GSK, Lilly, Covance, ICON, INC Research, inVentiv Health Clinical, PAREXEL, PPD and PRA International, have entered this year's US Clinical Researcher of the Year, organized by pharmaceutical media company PharmaTimes.
"This year's record entry is a result of the outstanding collaborative effort of the leading pharma companies and sponsoring CROs on the competition's executive steering committee and partnerships developed with ACRP, CenterWatch and the Society of Clinical Research Sites, which have helped to promote engagement with their communities," says steering group chair Sean Morgan-Jones.
Unique awards
The US Clinical Researcher of the Year competition is a unique competency-based program that invites researchers to compete head to head in a real-life challenge devised by US clinical directors from companies including GSK, Sanofi, AZ, Alcon, Shire, MSD and Endo Pharmaceuticals. "This is a fantastic opportunity for clinical research to showcase their most talented people," says Carol Parish, senior director, clinical development, head EU and EMAP, Stiefel, a GSK company.
The finals day will take place on the 7 November, 2013, at the spectacular global headquarters of finals hosts SAS in Cary, North Carolina. This year, special workshops have been organized for the finalists and guests to provide additional development opportunities and will span areas including the use of social media to assist patient recruitment and engagement.
Prestigious awards ceremony
The evening of the 7 November will see global pharma industry representatives come together at the prestigious Umsted Hotel, Cary, North Carolina, to hear the winners being announced. "It will be an occasion to remember and put an important global spotlight, not just on talented individuals and teams who made the finals but also on the companies who they represent and the whole clinical research fraternity," adds Sean Morgan-Jones.
