Pharmatek Establishes the Pharmatek Foundation

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Pharmatek Laboratories, Inc., a premier contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) has created the Pharmatek Foundation, a not-for-profit organization supporting volunteerism for causes in the San Diego community.  The Foundation's mission is to encourage and support sponsored volunteerism of Pharmatek employees and others in the San Diego community.

"Pharmatek employees have always been active in the volunteer community working with organizations such as San Diego Food Bank, San Diego Blood Bank, Operation Amped, Social Advocacy for Youth (SAY), Operation Homefront and others," says Tim Scott, President of Pharmatek and Pharmatek Foundation Board Chair. "The Foundation is an extension of a culture of volunteerism and giving that already exists at Pharmatek."

Foundation programs will be staffed by Pharmatek employees and managed by an Executive Committee that reports to the Board of Directors.  The Foundation's Executive Committee will develop a plan each year that focuses on specific opportunities for volunteer support in the community.  The Executive Committee is comprised of Pharmatek employees who serve a one year term.

"This year, the Pharmatek Foundation goals are to inspire and nurture interest in the sciences among underprivileged youth in San Diego," says Meredith Perry, Executive Director of the Foundation.  "This year our programs include SDUSD teacher and counselor training on-site at Pharmatek's laboratories and development of a portable science module for middle and high school classrooms.  We are also supporting complementary programs including dinner discussions with students at the Monarch Academy, a school supplies drive for underprivileged students through SAY, curriculum development with MedTech Academy, and a collaboration with the San Diego Food Bank on their student "backpack" food program."
