PhoneGuard, Inc. Chairman of the Board Attends the NOYS Conference for National Teen Distracted Driving Summit
BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2009, 20 percent of all injury crashes involved reports of distracted driving where the age group of greatest portion was younger than 20 years old. The National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS) believes effective teen-led prevention programs will empower youth to address the issues of distracted driving. To educate and develop teen leaders, the NOYS held the first-ever National Teen Distracted Driving Summit in Washington D.C. in partnership with Secretary Ray LaHood and the U.S. Department of Transportation. PhoneGuard Chairman of the Board, Keith St. Clair, was asked to take part in the Technology Solutions Panel, with discussions highlighting technology and behavior change. PhoneGuard was presented as a solution to the distracted driving epidemic and was among several renowned partners in attendance, such as AT&T, National Coalition for Safer Roads, AllState and SADD.
By playing a role in the Summit, PhoneGuard has positioned itself as a leader in the world of responsible texting technology. With 50 percent of teens likely to crash the first month of driving due to distracted driving, PhoneGuard hopes to educate teens and adults on the facts and make an impact with its latest application suite that specifically targets drivers who text and drive. The features position PhoneGuard at the intersection of safety and connectivity by disabling texting, emailing and keyboard functions of a mobile phone while in a vehicle moving faster than 10 miles per hour, empowering drivers to take responsibility for safe driving.
"PhoneGuard is honored to be a part of the National Teen Distracted Driving Summit," said Keith St. Clair, PhoneGuard Chairman of the Board. "We have developed a product that is specifically geared toward teens and concerned parents and hope that PhoneGuard's application suite will play a role in decreasing the number of injuries that result from distracted driving."
