Many may remember Dr. Horner as the surgeon that spearheaded a 5-year campaign called the BRA (Breast Cancer Reconstruction) Project that required insurance companies to pay for reconstructive surgery as part of breast cancer care, which was signed into federal law in 1998. This professional journey was also a personal journey as Dr. Horner's mother died of a breast cancer related disease after a 13 year battle with breast cancer. Dr. Horner will share what she has learned from studying prevention-related research that puts women (and men) on the path to better health. She compiled this research into a book, Waking the Warrior Goddess: Dr. Horner's Program to Protect Against and Fight Breast Cancer.
