NEW YORK and WASHINGTON, June 28, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In celebration and honor of Independence Day, Veterans Call, a revolutionary fundraising app, today launched its #DoubleDonation initiative to give back to veterans, active-duty military and their families. From June 28 to July 4, Activistic, the company that developed Veterans Call, will double every donation made through the app, up to $50,000. For this initiative, Veterans Call has partnered with award-winning actor, Marine combat veteran and philanthropist J.W. Cortes to underscore the importance of supporting organizations that provide for America's service members and their families.
"America's veterans, active-duty service members and their families don't always get the help they need," said Dylan Breslin-Barnhart, Activistic's Vice President of North America. "We built Veterans Call to simplify giving back to veterans and active-duty military, and over 50,000 Americans have answered the call thus far and downloaded the app to make a difference."
Veterans Call is the first veterans' giving app that utilizes patent pending technology. Americans can make a small, secure donation ($1.25 or $2.50 weekly) that is added to their monthly phone bill. Each donation is held and processed through a reputable collection partner, Mobile Giving Foundation.
"Having served nearly thirteen years in the United States Marine Corps, I'm excited to partner with Veterans Call to raise awareness and funding for America's veterans, service members and their families," said J.W. Cortes, actor and Marine combat veteran. "While Fourth of July is a day full of celebration, it is key we honor and continue to support those who fought for our freedom."
With Veterans Call, eighty five percent of each donation goes directly to the charities. While the fundraising platform is not classified as a nonprofit, based on its efficiency level CharityWatch would reward the app with an 'A' ranking. CharityWatch considers a charity to be highly efficient when their end calculations produce a program percent of 75 percent or higher.
To make a donation and give back to those who fought for our freedom, simply download the app in Apple's App Store or the Google Play Store and donate today.
