WBENC's national standard of certification is a meticulous process, including an in-depth review of the business. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women. Pivot Strategies is 100 percent woman owned by founder and CEO Stacia Nelson.
"I am thrilled to receive national certification from WBENC," said Nelson. "When I launched Pivot Strategies in 2015, I was looking for unique ways to connect with potential clients. WBENC Certification helps us better serve our current clients who are focused on supplier diversity, and opens up new opportunities with corporations seeking to work with diverse agencies."
According to a report commissioned by American Express OPEN, women-owned businesses are growing and now represent 39 percent of all U.S. firms – an estimated 11.6 million businesses. Nearly 13,500 of these firms are WBENC certified. However, there are fewer than 400 certified WBENC businesses in Minnesota.
By recognizing the WBENC certification and including women-owned businesses among their vendors, corporations and government agencies confirm their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier and vendor diversity programs.
