Plaintiffs' Law Firm AlderLaw, P.C. Secures Four of California's Top, Million-Dollar Verdicts in 2011
Two verdicts rank among top 15 on list published by The Recorder
LOS ANGELES, May 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Verdicts secured by plaintiffs' trial lawyer Michael Alder and his team at AlderLaw, P.C. in Beverly Hills, Calif., earned four spots in The Recorder's recently published 2011 "California's Million-Dollar Verdicts" report, which compiles verdicts from the comprehensive VerdictSearch database. This year's list featured 132 total verdicts from across the state.
"We play a critical role for the under-served and work hard to defend and seek justice for individuals who've been wronged. These verdicts are just a sample of the kind of high caliber work we do," said Alder. "We obtained a total of $92.3 million in verdicts for our clients last year and are on track for a successful 2012."
AlderLaw ranked in 10th place with its $49.6 million verdict in Pedeferri v. White – a case in which Alder and team represented a California Highway Patrol officer paralyzed from the waist down after being struck by a car. It was the largest personal injury verdict in Ventura County history by a factor of two.
The firm's $32.9 million verdict in Concept Chaser Co. Inc. v. Pentel of America Ltd. ranked in 13th place. The case involved breach of contract and theft of El Segundo, Calif.-based ad agency Concept Chaser's marketing campaign ideas to promote Pentel's $2 HyperG Gel Pen.
Attorney Stephen McElroy of AlderLaw secured a $1.8 million verdict in Biolley v. Select-a-Service LLC, coming in at the 92nd spot on the list. The case involved workplace negligence when a heavy shelf fell on an employee and injured her. The firm's fourth verdict to make the list at the 125th spot was a $1 million verdict in Caughran v. Seymour, a motor vehicle injury accident case involving a drunk driver.
AlderLaw handles some of the most cutting-edge plaintiffs' litigation in California and nationwide – including the recent, high-profile Sears peeping tom case in Los Angeles. Alder has tried more than 80 cases in his career and, in 2011, secured more than $140 million in verdicts and settlements for his clients. In addition to running his firm, Alder is the current president of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA), raising public awareness of the importance of plaintiffs' lawyers and spearheading efforts to preserve California's courts amid massive budget cuts, including a campaign to save court reporters from layoffs.
