Plastic Surgery Portal Publishes Article About Robotic Microsurgery
SKOKIE, Ill., June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Plastic Surgery Portal recently published an article about robotic microsurgery and its entry into the plastic surgery industry.
Robotic technology has allowed for improvements in a number of surgical fields. Robotics cuts down on recovery times, reduces human error, allows for greater accuracy and decreases the risk of infection after surgery. Robotic surgery also allows doctors to access intracorporeal sites in a less invasive way that's much safer for the patient.
The SARMS tracking system lets hospitals and patients measure doctors' skillsets in 11 different aspects of robotic microsurgery. Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Dr. Jesse C. Selber led a recent study evaluating nine trainees using the SARMS tracking system. The study showed that the doctors' scores increased and mean operating times decreased as they performed more robotic microsurgeries.
