Platts Completes Acquisition of Steel Business Briefing Group, Broadening Its News, Pricing and Analytical Offerings in Global Commodities Markets

LONDON and NEW YORK, July 1, 2011 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc. (NYSE: MHP) today announced that Platts, a division of McGraw-Hill and a leading global provider of energy, petrochemicals and metals information, has completed its acquisition of Steel Business Briefing Group (the SBB Group), a privately held U.K. company and leading provider of news, pricing and analytics to the global steel market.  The acquisition was first announced on June 29, 2011.  Financial terms were not disclosed.

The SBB Group provides subscription-based business electronic products to the steel industry and its participants through two principal businesses, Steel Business Briefing (SBB) and The Steel Index (TSI).  The SBB business will be integrated into Platts, while TSI will continue to operate separately.
