KIRYAT TIVON, Israel, March 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Snoring U and Sleeping U are two smartphone applications that record and display information about the sleep environment, and snoring. Snoring U and Sleeping U can be used as an alert to the possibility of a potential problem, as well as for monitoring the existence or absence of snoring. Snoring U and Sleeping U are available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and are now better than ever!
Snoring U and Sleeping U can allow for the monitoring of how loud and how often he/she snores during sleep, as well as listen to a recording of sleep sounds, and compare a history of multiple sleep sessions (a benefit for those who sleep alone and/or for anyone who wishes to prove the existence of snoring to an unbelieving bed partner). Besides the sleep monitoring, Snoring U can also attempt to help the user stop snoring by performing a sophisticated "nudge," which is triggered by a set of complex rules that are applied to the noise level, noise pattern and desired user behavior.
Snoring U and Sleeping U are being developed by Pointer Software Systems Ltd., under the guidance of Dr. Naveh Tov, M.D., Ph.D., who specializes in internal pulmonary and sleep medicine.
The most important additions and new features of Snoring U V4.0 and Sleeping U V2.0 include:
- Support user-added text notes in sleep sessions
- Improved and intelligent zooming
- Dynamic threshold on the sensitivity (Snoring U)
- Improved snore detection algorithm (Snoring U)
For these new versions, we are also announcing collaboration with "Snoring Isn't Sexy, LLC.," which will endorse Snoring U and Sleeping U as applications that can be useful in detecting the presence of snoring, and alert a snorer to the possibility of a medical problem: obstructive sleep apnea.
"We are thrilled about having "Snoring Isn't Sexy" included in the new version of the Snoring U and Sleeping U apps," said Dr. Laurence Barsh, Founder and President of "Snoring Isn't Sexy, LLC." "Since only 10 - 15% of people with obstructive sleep apnea have been diagnosed and treated, any tool that will help alert the public to the possibility of a problem is a welcome public health benefit."
"Snoring Isn't Sexy, LLC.," was founded in 2008 by Laurence I. Barsh, DMD, a dentist who has been involved with sleep medicine since 1992 and who now devotes full time to educating the public about dentistry's role and responsibility in the recognition and management of snoring and sleep apnea. "Snoring Isn't Sexy, LLC.," consists of independently owned and operated affiliated offices.
