Caleb Payne is a 54-year-old former firefighter from Kentucky who decided to spend the next several months hiking the Appalachian Trail to raise awareness for CRC. Payne's cancer already was at stage 3 when he was diagnosed at age 52 in January 2013. He is working with the Colon Cancer Prevention Project to raise money for early detection and provide survivor support. Payne's fundraising target is $13,000, which is $1 for each person diagnosed with colon cancer in Kentucky over the last five years.
