Upon publication, it quickly reached #23 on Amazon's bestseller list, selling over 5,000 copies on the day of its release.
Now he comes to NYC with his 2nd new book in as many years, which, considering its subject matter, his publisher, Diamond Way Press, believes could have even more impact.
The new book is Fearless Death: Buddhist Wisdom on the Art of Dying, and he'll be sharing insights from it as part of his North American speaking tour, which includes a stop in New York City:
Public talk with Lama Ole Nydahl
"What Happens When We Die? A Buddhist Perspective"
Wednesday, May 22nd at 7pm
NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, 1871 Broadway (at 61st Street)
TEACHINGS THAT LESSEN THE FEAR OF DEATH
In Fearless Death, the author's 9th book in English, Nydahl presents the teachings of Tibetan Buddhist masters, who had precise knowledge of the dying process, and what happens afterwards. Knowledge of such teachings and the meditation practices that go with them is said to help people decrease their fears of death dramatically.
Nydahl's book integrates current science with classical Tibetan texts to make their wisdom accessible to people in the West. Originally from Denmark, Nydahl is a fully authorized Lama in the Tibetan Karma Kagyu tradition and is known for his talent at teaching authentic Buddhist practices to contemporary audiences. He is the inspiration behind over 600 Diamond Way Buddhist Centers worldwide.
Nydahl is also one of the world's leading experts on the profound Tibetan Buddhist meditation practice used at the time of death (Phowa, or "conscious dying"). Since 1987, he has taught this practice to over 90,000 people worldwide and helped thousands of students overcome their anxieties about mortality.
AN EVENING OF TEACHING AND MEDITATIONS
During his speaking engagement in NYC, Lama Ole will share key teachings found in his new book and offer instructions for mediations people can put to use immediately to increase their joy and fearlessness in daily life.
