Post.Bid.Ship. Closes Series A-3 Funding and Announces New Corporate Headquarters in Scottsdale
Aggressive Growth Reflects Rising Popularity in Online Freight Bidding Service
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Post.Bid.Ship., the leading online marketplace for the commercial freight industry, announces it has relocated its headquarters from Tucson to Scottsdale to accommodate an expanding workforce and customer base. This expansion and move follows Post.Bid.Ship.'s Arizona Innovation Challenge win for the second time.
Post.Bid.Ship., started by The University of Arizona McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship graduates, brings Web-based modernization to an industry that has lagged behind in technology. The platform helps brokers, shippers and carriers save significant money and time through an automated, Web-based technology that communicates and sells truck space in real time. A two-time winner of the Arizona Innovation Challenge (AIC), the company has raised $2.5M to date, with funds coming from the AIC, the Arizona Technology Investor Forum (ATIF), Desert Angels and Point B Capital.
"Shippers and carriers desperately needed an online solution that helps maximize profits and get freight delivered on demand. The Post.Bid.Ship. platform makes that happen as we're already seeing quick adoption," said Hamstreet. "The average truck has 30 to 40 percent empty space on board. The average freight load costs $1,700 to ship and millions of loads are shipped every year, so you can see the huge potential for savings. By giving our customers a way to buy and sell available truck space that would otherwise go to waste, we're able to help them drive revenue in a very quick and convenient way."
Herb Schmidt, retired president of Con-way Truckload, said the efficiency and customization offered by the Post.Bid.Ship. platform appealed to him the most. "The Post.Bid.Ship. platform has a lot of legs. It's a much more efficient and cost-effective process than we've ever had before in the industry. Post.Bid.Ship. is taking the carrier-shipper relationship to the next level by supplying a list of pre-screened options to get the job done."
Post.Bid.Ship., which has been called the Priceline of the $740 billion B2B commercial freight industry, benefits shippers, carriers and brokers in multiple ways. Third-party brokers use the Post.Bid.Ship. platform to quickly locate trucks to haul their customers' freight, while truckers can access the platform mid-haul from their smartphones or laptops. All trucking companies are screened to ensure they meet national safety ratings and the company is developing tools to further automate freight bidding.
Hamstreet said that because the fourth quarter is always the busiest shipping time of the year, he expects even more company growth in the near future. Hamstreet co-founded Post.Bid.Ship. with Micky Thompson, a fellow McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship graduate. Hamstreet and Thompson started Post.Bid.Ship. after Hamstreet's experience in his father's trucking companies inspired him to bring digital mobility and convenience to the freight industry.
"This is a very fragmented industry, with over a million trucking companies just in the United States," he said. "Most trucking companies operate twenty or fewer trucks and are family owned. One of the benefits Post.Bid.Ship. offers is a one-stop solution that connects shippers and carriers who might not otherwise know each other exists. It's the smart way to ship in the digital age."
