WASHINGTON, June 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The new Potato Expo Innovation Hub is now open and accepting abstract submissions for the Potato Expo 2018, the largest convention and trade show for the potato industry drawing more than 2,000 attendees and over 180 exhibiting companies. Potato Expo takes place January 10-12, 2018 at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida.
Program coordinators for Potato Expo seek a variety of educational topics from farming and research to consumer trends, food safety, globalization, food service, labor and use of marketing and social media to network, increase sales and more. Sessions and panels will take place at the Potato Expo Innovation Hub "Main Stage" located on the Trade Show Floor.
"Our goal is to increase the breadth and depth of the educational offerings both on the show floor and in breakout sessions," says Jim Tiede, co-chair of Potato Expo 2018. "We're looking for thoughtful, innovative and relevant sessions that will provide information to attendees that can assist in better business practices."
The Potato Expo Innovation Hub "Main Stage" will feature 13 events over 2.5 days. In addition, there are nearly 20 break-out sessions taking place in other locations.
All proposals should be submitted by August 15, 2017 via http://potato.onscore.net. There are more than 20 possible submission categories. Final submissions will be announced September 15, 2017. Those selected receive an All-Access pass to the Potato Expo, general session, breakout sessions and networking events in addition to publicity through promotional materials.
In addition, the 2018 Spud Nation Throwdown competition takes a new twist: 100% impartiality. In its third annual year, test kitchen culinarians from the biggest brands who market potatoes or use potatoes in their ingredients will don their chef hats and head to the stage where they will prepare their most innovative dishes. Hosted by Phil Lempert the SupermarketGuru, the Spud Nation Throwdown judging panel will taste each chef's creation blindfolded to offer their objective reviews. The Throwdown takes place over two days with the two remaining chefs competing one-on-one to turn mystery ingredients left for them on the stage into a Spud Nation winning dish.
