GREENE COUNTY, Mo., July 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Greene County Circuit Court has granted preliminary approval to a proposed settlement in a class action lawsuit involving recipients of facsimile advertisements from Meecorp Capital Markets, LLC. The case is Evans & Green, LLP v. Meecorp Capital Markets, LLC.,Case No. 0831-CV07658 and alleges that Defendant Meecorp Capital Markets sent unsolicited facsimile advertisements in violation of the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Missouri Computer Tampering Act, and committed the torts of conversion, invasion of privacy, and negligence.
Who is Included in the Settlement?
Under the terms of the proposed settlement, the Class consists of: All persons designated as "Broker/DE" with a "Create Date" field of June 10, 2008 or earlier in Defendants' contacts database produced in discovery who were sent one or more one-page facsimile transmission(s) of images PR001, PR002, PR003, PR004, or PR005 on behalf of Defendants between July 19, 2002 and June 10, 2008.
What does the Settlement provide?
Defendants have agreed to create a fund of up to $7,500,000 funded by Defendants' insurer. Depending on the number of claims submitted, eligible members of the class may receive up to $150 or $500. To recover up to $500, a Class Member must provide a copy of the original of a qualifying facsimile and a completed and signed claim form. Any Class Member who only provides a completed and signed claim from will receive up to $150.
How to Receive a Benefit
To qualify for payment, you must be a Class Member and send in a claim form. A claim form is available at www.MeecorpSettlement.com. To recover up to $500, a Class Member must provide a copy of the original qualifying facsimile and a completed and signed claim form. Any Class Member who only provides a completed and signed claim from will receive up to $150. The postmarked deadline to submit a claim form is October 9, 2015.
