Premier Alliance Gains Approval for Contracting With United States Department of Energy
root9B's Cybersecurity Expertise a Key Component to Potential Contracts
NEW YORK, Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has added Premier Alliance (OTCQB: PIMO) to its list of Qualified Energy Service Companies, the company announced today.
The decision by the DOE enables Premier Alliance to compete for and execute unique cybersecurity services to a critical piece of the U.S. infrastructure and provide Energy Savings Performance Contracting for Federal agencies.
"This is yet another positive step for our company as we build potential client relationships in the cybersecurity and energy sectors," said Joe Grano, Premier Alliance chairman and CEO. "Our understanding of the intersection of the energy and cybersecurity spaces is unrivaled in the industry."
In a guest editorial last month, Grano focused on the need for diligence in managing power grids.
"In April, Gary Cauley, the president of the North American Electric Reliability Corp. told the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee that the U.S. electrical power grid is vulnerable to cyber and physical attacks, which could cause devastating disruptions throughout the country.
He was most concerned about coordinated physical and cyber attacks intended to disable elements of the power grid, or deny electricity to specific targets including government, business centers, military installations, or other critical infrastructures."
root9B's management team cites estimates that more than half of cyber attacks in the United States are aimed at energy.
"It is critically important for the security of the nation's infrastructure that strong government and private partnerships are developed," said John Harbaugh, root9B's chief operating officer. "It should come as no surprise that our adversaries actively target the nation's most important networks to preposition for future attacks or gain significant cyber advantage."
In light of this real threat, root9B, a Premiere Alliance company, is uniquely postured to execute the development of active adversarial pursuit and engagement (HUNT) strategies to protect U.S. energy sector networks.
root9B is currently responsible for providing the Advanced Cybersecuring Building Control Systems Workshop, which is sponsored by the National Institute of Building Sciences.
"The root9B expertise in this space is yet another differentiator for Premier Alliance," Grano added. "Our Subject Matter Experts are simply the best in the industry. All have NSA and military backgrounds and all understand DOD priorities."
