President Tuxedo Opens Four New Stores with Specials and New Formal Wear Selections

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- President Tuxedo is celebrating the opening of four new Michigan stores with special promotions for weddings throughout its 25-store area in Michigan and northern Ohio. Gifts and drawings are on tap during the grand opening weekend Friday, April 23, through Sunday, April 25. "Every couple registering for wedding tuxes during that weekend will be eligible for two free airline tickets to one of 3,300 resorts," said Robert Gafa, co-CEO of President Tuxedo. Also, as part of a "super special" throughout the weekend every new wedding party will receive a free tux for the groom; free vests, ties, jewelry, shoes and socks for groomsmen; and $20 off each wedding party member's total bill.

Wedding parties can also register for a drawing in which one lucky wedding party from the 25-store region will receive up to six free tux rentals during the grand opening, Gafa said.

The company's four new locations are in West Bloomfield at 6907 Orchard Lake Road in the Boardwalk Shopping Center; in Okemos near Lansing at West Grand River Avenue and Central Park Drive next to Panera Bread; in Portage near Kalamazoo at 6800 South Westnedge Avenue in the Carillon Center outside Crossroads Mall; and in Milan at 13 West Main Street in the Diamond Setters.

Other stores are located in Detroit, Warren, Orion Township, Westland, Dearborn, Novi, Sterling Heights, Birmingham, Flint, Troy, Ann Arbor, Port Huron, Jackson, Roseville, Monroe, Taylor, New Baltimore, Grand Rapids and Rochester in Michigan, and in Toledo, Ohio.

The four new President Tuxedo stores will add 15 to 20 jobs, Gafa said. Last year President Tuxedo created 30 jobs at its new service and training center in Sterling Heights. The company opened its first store in 1968.

Fashion additions this year include tuxedos from both Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren along with an accessory collection featuring more than 40 new colors.  

And proms have taken a "back to the seventies" turn, with new orange and light blue tuxes, shirts and accessories. They were also featured in the ever-popular comedy "Dumb and Dumber," which previewed in 1994 starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.  

Prom customers can take advantage of prom specials including $20 off each tux and a free tuxedo t-shirt (while supplies last). President Tuxedo is also widely known for its "Bux for Tux" program, which donates up to $5 per tux rented for school proms back to each student's school. That's five to ten percent of the cost of a typical rental of $50 to $100. Each school gets at least $2 per tux, and the amount goes up as the number of rentals increases.

Last year more than 80 high schools participated in the Bux for Tux program. Two schools, Seaholm in Birmingham and Huron in Ann Arbor, received more than $500 each; and several more earned more than $300, including Rochester Adams, Bedford in Temperance and Centerline High. This year more than 100 schools are already participating in the Bux for Tux program.
