Priceline.com Finds Dallas/Ft. Worth Hotel Room Rates Up 200% For This Weekend's Pittsburgh-Green Bay Clash
NORWALK, Conn., Feb. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Priceline.com (Nasdaq: PCLN) reported today that the median per-night hotel room rate in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for this weekend's Steelers-Packers contest is approximately $180, which is about 200% higher than the median rate of approximately $60 for the same area a year ago. Priceline based its median rate on the total hotel bookings made by its customers for the Feb. 4-7, 2011 and Feb. 5-8, 2010 long weekends in all hotel star categories from 1-star to 4-star.
Fans going to the game can expect the biggest year-over-year rate increases among 2.5-star hotels, where the median rate is approximately $210, up about 280% from last year. Ironically, the median rate for 3-star hotels booked on Priceline for the upcoming weekend is approximately $180, an increase of about 140% over a year ago.
