Primavera Founder Receives Congressional Recognition for Innovation in Education
CHANDLER, Ariz., April 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Damian Creamer, Founder and CEO of Primavera Online High School, was recently awarded a Certificate of Congressional Recognition for Exemplary Innovation in Education from U.S. Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez. The award was presented during a gathering of business, education and government leaders hosted by the Internet Marketing Association (IMA) and the Chapman50 organization at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, CA.
The award recognized Primavera and Creamer for investing more than 10 years of service to improve access to education for thousands of students in Arizona. The school's innovative approach to educating today's digital generation of students by using technology to provide a personalized yet rigorous education is fast becoming the model that other educational leaders seek to emulate.
"I am humbled to accept this recognition on behalf of the faculty, staff, students and families at Primavera Online High School," said Creamer. "This team is very much on the cutting edge of providing topnotch quality online and blended learning programs to thousands of students. It's truly an honor to be able to have such a positive impact on so many young lives."
The school was founded by Creamer in September 2001 as Primavera Technical Learning Center, a non-profit Arizona educational corporation. Since opening its doors to a handful of students, it has become the largest high school in Arizona, serving an average of 5,500 full-time students in grades 9-12 and an additional 250 students in grades 6-8.
Primavera Online High School attracts students seeking an alternative, Internet-based approach to the traditional school environment, including those who want to accelerate their education, pursue professional careers that require flexible schedules, are geographically distant from traditional schools, or prefer learning from the security of their own homes.
IMA is one of the fastest growing professional organizations in the world and encompasses a wide spectrum of professionals in sales, marketing, business ownership, programming, creative development, and related fields. Chapman50 is a group of area leaders who have been assembled by Chapman University to provide long-term input and guidance to the university.
