Pro Golfer Maiya Tanaka Eyes $100,000 Prize at Big Break Invitational
Xcell Pro Sports Management introduces new sponsorships for Tanaka with Solar Rain Water and SkinAgain
GREENSBORO, Ga., Sept. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Professional golfer Maiya Tanaka will compete for the $100,000 champion's prize as part of a $300,000 purse being awarded to winners of the Big Break Invitational 2014 tournament, which is set for Sept. 30 - Oct. 3 at Reynolds Plantation resort.
Tanaka, a San Diego native who played this past season on the Symetra Tour, is excited to return to Golf Channel's Big Break series. She competed in the Big Break Sandals Resort program in the Bahamas in 2010. Now in its 21st season, the Big Break series pits promising young pro golfers and other former professional athletes in big-money competitions.
The upcoming Big Break Invitational competition involves 40 former contestants from the show who will return to battle it out on the Great Waters course designed by Jack Nicklaus, which is located halfway between Atlanta and Augusta National Golf Club. NFL Hall-of-Famer Jerry Rice, who competed on Big Break NFL last fall, will also take part in the invite-only tournament.
"We are excited about Maiya's participation in the Big Break Invitational as yet another big break for her burgeoning career," said John Mutch, Co-Founder of Xcell Pro Sports Management, which supports all aspects of Tanaka's playing and entertainment career, including product endorsements.
Xcell Pro Sports Management is also pleased to announce two new sponsorships for Maiya. First, Solar Rain Water joins the Tanaka team. Solar Rain is an ocean sourced premium, ultra-pure artisan water that will keep Maiya hydrated on the course for maximum performance. Second, Xcell is pleased to announce a sponsorship with SkinAgain. The company's anti-aging and repair creams have the highest level of paraben-free actives to help repair Maiya's skin after intense sun exposure. Mutch noted that Tanaka also currently serves as a celebrity spokesperson for Katherine Cosmetics.
Legendary golf coach Dennis Sheehy co-founded Xcell Pro Sports Management with Mutch in San Diego. Sheehy is a well-known former instructor for the esteemed David Leadbetter Golf Academy, and he has worked with some of the greatest players in modern times, including Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam, Bernhard Langer and Seve Ballesteros.
