Procera Networks joins Wireless Broadband Alliance
FREMONT, Calif., June 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Procera Networks, a leader in network and subscriber intelligence, today announced it has become a member of the Wireless Broadband Alliance.
Procera has joined the WBA as an observer member, in order to better participate in the discussion around ensuring a high Quality of Experience on Wi-Fi networks for consumers.
"As consumer data demand continues to grow and network operators find themselves increasingly turning towards universal wireless connectivity to help meet these expectations, subscriber experience management will be very important," said Shrikant Shenwai, CEO, Wireless Broadband Alliance. "We welcome Procera Networks to the WBA and look forward to working with them on this and other important matters in the ecosystem."
The WBA brings together operators, vendors, and influencers from across the telecoms sector to drive the adoption of wireless broadband around the globe. The leading industry body also has a key role to play in championing the development of these services and supporting the advancement of subscriber experience management for wireless broadband across the board.
"Network operators see Procera as a key partner for protecting the subscriber experience and ensuring a consistent QoE. Joining the WBA demonstrates our commitment to continuing this trend," said Alexander Havang, CTO at Procera Networks. "Network intelligence is at the heart of what we do. So we are delighted to be part of an industry body that's tackling the challenges associated with delivering an outstanding user experience for wireless broadband services."
Procera's ScoreCard technology gives operators a unique understanding of what service quality their networks are capable of delivering. It goes far beyond the traditional performance measurement approach of using download speed as a core metric. Instead, it analyses data from the network in real-time to rate its performance from 'A' to 'F' in categories subscribers truly care about: web surfing, streaming video, social media, online gaming, upload, download, and voice applications.
Founded in 2003, the WBA has over 130 members including major fixed operators such as BT, Comcast, and Time Warner Cable. Seven of the top 10 global mobile operator groups are also members, in addition to leading industry vendors.
