NEW YORK, Nov. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Project Pride is moving full throttle ahead! The Rock Star Madness Band, featuring the original Kenya Doll characters transforming into a real-life recording act, digitally releases "Proud" at iTunes this week, in sending a positive and uplifting message that fosters respect, responsibility and positive growth within the Black Community. "Project Pride" is an important cultural initiative within the `Kenya Doll' brand that the Rock Star Madness Band will convey to youth nationwide, including tour stops, schools and in-store appearances. Soul Train Music Awards is the first industry event selected to gift talent with the Kenya Doll in the Backstage Gifting Lounge.
Jonathan "Lil J" McDaniel (aka DWAYNE doll) has been appointed official Ambassador for Project Pride. McDaniel, as acting role model, will speak to kids after each performance to inspire them to strive for their personal best. He will also go live on youstream every Sunday to chat with kids via Facebook and Twitter, in order to continue his inspirational coaching and answer any questions the kids may have.
Comments Jonathan "Lil J" McDaniel: "I'm really proud to have been chosen as Ambassador for "Project Pride" and I look forward to sharing my life stories of how I achieved my goals, so I can inspire our youth of tomorrow. I'm honored to be a part of Kenya's World and to have this opportunity to positively connect with our young ones."
KW Music and Entertainment, LLC is distributing the live music recordings by the Rock Star Madness Band. In addition, KW Music and Entertainment has also joined forces with Nottinghill Publishing to operate as their publishing administrative arm. The move will serve to further expand the reach of the music to multiple licensing domestic and international opportunities for all music related properties.
Comments Livio Harris, VP of A&R, Nottinghill Music Publishing: "We are honored to have Neil Levine and Bruce Walker as new clients under our newly signed deal with KW Music and Entertainment, LLC, where we will serve as publishing administrator to their catalog of music."The "Proud" music video has been serviced to national and regional video outlets as well as YouTube. A second Rock Star Madness Band single and video will be recorded and shot this December, with plans for release during Black History Month in February 2013. A series of live performance events and a new tour will kick off in NY to celebrate Project Pride during Black History Month.
The Rock Star Madness Band features Hannah Montana star Shanica Knowles as Kenya, Ryan McDaniel as TJ (Kenya's boyfriend), Kia Hampton as Denise (Kenya's best friend) and Jonathan McDaniel as Dwayne (TJ's cousin). The Rock Star Madness Band is set to perform live, visit schools, conduct community events, and make in-store appearances to promote the Project Pride initiative. The group is clearly on a mission.
The Kenya Doll is an African American treasure deep in rich cultural history and significance, which is set to re-launch this November. It was originally launched in 1992 to provide girls of color with a toy that accurately reflected their appearance, and that could be used to instill self-esteem, along with pride in heritage and community. It became the hottest doll for African American girls, selling over 4 million dolls, as it captured every little brown girl's heart, while also enjoying strong universal appeal.
The Rock Star Madness Band features Kenya and her extremely creative friends performing music that represents their lifestyle, fits their flare for fashion and popular culture, and lyrically spreads a positive message. The Rock Star Madness Band will continue to release hot, new videos, CD's and DVD's which are electrified by their live performances in spreading Kenya's Project Pride. Also, Project Pride has a blog to closely interact with fans and share news and project updates. The Rock Star Madness Tour was produced by The Frontrunnaz, choreographed by Flii Stylz and directed by Carlos Ramos, Jr.
The Rock Star Band is excited to have VMA Award winner, Anwar "Flii Stylz" Burton onboard. The young choreographer is still flying high from winning a "Moon Man" at MTV's 2012 Video Music Awards for Best Choreography for Chris Brown's "Turn Up The Music." He's also been nominated for the 2012 World Dance Awards for Chris Brown's "She Ain't You" for "Outstanding Choreography Music Video" and "Outstanding Choreography Television Live Performance." Flii has been tapped as Creative Director for Chris Brown's new label CBE and has worked with Madonna, Beyonce, Usher, Jennifer Lopez, Black Eyed Peas and Missy Elliott among others.
The Kenya Doll re-launch provides an opportunity to create a cultural movement and awareness for African American children, Hispanic children and multi-cultural children in giving them the foundation of pride within family and community.
