Prolamsa USA Adds Additional Warehouse in Laredo; Improves Capability to Ship in 24-48 Hours

HOUSTON, June 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Prolamsa USA announced that it has opened a new warehouse in Laredo, TX, which will add additional storage and shipping capabilities, and support its current Laredo manufacturing and warehouse operations.  

The company produces mechanical tubing in square and rectangular shapes from 1/2" to 2 1/2" and stocks mechanical and structural steel tubing, and metal building shapes and components in Laredo.

Jean-Marie Diederichs, Prolamsa USA's general manager, explained that the added capacity will significantly improve Prolamsa's capability to mix and ship truckloads of stock items in 24-48 hours.  "This will help both our service center and OEM customers who need smaller quantities or single truckload orders of mixed products," he said.  

Mr. Diederichs went on to explain that the expanded stocking capability will directly tie-in with Prolamsa's new ProLink™ Customer Information System.  "Customers will see the stock list in both of our Laredo warehouses on ProLink, send their order directly to the plant, then track its progress until it's shipped," he said.  

"Our added warehouse capacity and new rolling schedules will allow larger customers to purchase the volumes, sizes and gauges of the products they need in advance.  Our new capabilities will assure them delivery of the products they need, when they need them.  It will also allow our people the ability to give preference to these customers, and, at the same time, the flexibility to minimize lead times for other customers," said Mr. Diederichs.  

The additional warehouse capacity will enable Prolamsa to take full advantage of the capabilities of its Laredo plant.  Large orders and those produced on a regular schedule will be handled through the company's new ProLink system.  The added storage capacity provided by the new warehouse will give Prolamsa USA the flexibility to handle and ship all types and sizes of orders.  

The new warehouse is near Prolamsa USA's other Laredo production and warehouse facilities.

Prolamsa began operating in 1954 and started producing tubular shapes, now the company's primary product, in 1961. Prolamsa produces and sells a wide range of structural and mechanical tubing, metal building components and shapes, and a variety of steel parts and components throughout North America.
