Prolific Designer Karim Rashid Featured In Financial Times Cover Story
NEW YORK, Nov. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Designer Karim Rashid was featured in Financial Times' "How to Spend It" cover story published on November 7, 2014, as well as in the newspaper's "The Aesthete" column discussing his personal style. Recently, Karim was commissioned by HAP Investments, a real estate investment group focused on the acquisition and development of residential and commercial properties, (www.hap-ny.com).
In the published interview, Rashid discussed his personal style, style icon, favorite websites, and the one artist whose work he would collect if possible. Financial Times wrote, "Karim Rashid, one of the most prolific product designers of his generation, is known for his minimalist, sensually curbed pieces in pop-art colours."
Karim has more than 3,000 designs in production and 300 awards from over 40 countries Rashid's diversity allows him the ability to cross-pollinate ideas, materials, behaviors, and aesthetics from one typology to the next.
Karim, 54, was quoted in the article saying, "My personal style signifiers are my Alain Mikli glasses – I own 50 pairs in all colours – and wearing white or pink head-to-toe. That could be J Brand skinny jeans with a Uniqlo HeatTech T-shirt, or slim-cut, custom-made suits by My Suit, which have a bit of stretch and don't wrinkle."
Karim comments in the article continued, "The site that inspires me is the Kunsthaus Graz by British architects Peter Cook and Colin Fournier. Dubbed a 'friendly alien,' this blobular, contemporary art museum sits among traditional 18th-century Austrian buildings. I get fired up by people who juxtapose an unusual idea with rich architectural history."Read the Financial Times here:
