SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Prometheus Real Estate Group Inc., the largest private owner of multi-family properties in the San Francisco Bay Area, has hired Darren Carrington as Vice President of Investments.  With over 20 years of experience in real estate investment, acquisition and management, Darren Carrington's breadth of experience makes him particularly well suited to his position as Vice President of Investments, for Prometheus.  From creating and running his own real estate consulting firm to completing over $1.35 billion in multifamily acquisitions and dispositions, he brings a disciplined approach to maximizing investment value for Prometheus Real Estate Group.

During his tenure as Vice President of Investments for AvalonBay Communities in Alexandria, VA and San Francisco, CA, Carrington was responsible for leading regional teams in East & West Coast markets, sourcing acquisitions and spearheading asset management initiatives, all while consistently exceeding transaction volume expectations. As Vice President of Acquisitions/Portfolio Management with Camden Property Trust in Houston, TX he was instrumental in buying and selling over 16,000 apartments and completing over $1.2 billion in mergers and structured transactions while managing joint venture relationships with over 5,000 apartment units.

Carrington also attained "hands-on" management experience as an Asset Manager with MIG Realty Advisors in Walnut Creek, CA, managing a portfolio featuring 2.4 million square feet of multifamily and commercial real estate with one of the largest privately held pension fund advisors in the country.

A Certified Property Manager, Certified Commercial Investment Member and participant in National Multi Housing Counsel, Carrington earned his Master of Business Administration from San Francisco State University and his Bachelor of Business Administration from California State University, Chico.
