Prominent Cleveland Attorney Authors Unique Treatise
CLEVELAND, March 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Christopher M. Ernst, co-founder of Cleveland Professionals Group, the distinguished Northeast Ohio business development organization, has authored a unique, one-of-a-kind legal treatise: Baldwin's Ohio Practice: Tort Law 2d. Mr. Ernst, an attorney at law for twenty years, is a partner in the Cleveland office of Bricker & Eckler LLP and a member of its Litigation and Business Law practices. The book was published by West (a Thomson Reuters business).
Baldwin's Ohio Practice: Tort Law 2d is a greatly expanded re-working of the first edition, authored by Mr. Ernst and published by West in 2005. It is the only comprehensive treatise on tort law for the State of Ohio. "This book puts all of Ohio tort law – especially Business Torts – at the reader's fingertips," said Ernst. "This book is an easy resource tool for quick access to case law. When used in conjunction with online research databases, it is unbeatable for easy, fast and reliable research."
The largest focus of the work is in the area of Business Torts, one of Mr. Ernst's main areas of concentration. "In today's business climate, businesses are expecting each other to maintain standards of care that previously were overlooked," Ernst stated. "Whether it is in the context of business to business, business to consumer, or even employer to employee, day to day business dealings are receiving much greater scrutiny than before. This increased scrutiny can result in greatly increased risk which, if not managed properly, can doom a business."
In addition to the twenty-nine chapters on Business Torts, Baldwin's Ohio Practice: Tort Law 2d is an exhaustive look at every other significant area of tort law. The five volumes contain a total 79 chapters and 4200 pages of text – ten times the length of the first edition. Its approach is fair and balanced, making it useful for plaintiff and defense lawyers alike, as well as sophisticated business people.
Ever concerned about the health and well-being of businesses, Ernst co-founded Cleveland Professionals Group in 2006. He and the other co-founder, Bob Nemeth, a principal at the accounting firm Apple Growth Partners, started Cleveland Professionals Group with the intention of developing a best in class business development organization for professional services providers.
"This book directly connects my work at Bricker & Eckler with my work at CPG. Working with businesses to make them successful, helping them minimize risk and maximize their potential, is a cornerstone to my practice of law. Baldwin's Ohio Practice: Tort Law 2d is another way of doing that," Ernst said. "It shows my clients and the business community the level of commitment and expertise that I have, that Bricker & Eckler has, and that CPG has."
Ernst has a litigation practice of medium and large commercial cases and a corporate practice working with emerging and middle market companies, often serving as outside general counsel. He holds an AV rating from Martindale, is a five-time Ohio SuperLawyer and is a member of MENSA.
Mr. Ernst is available for speaking engagements, networking opportunities and informational meetings. He may be contacted at 216-523-5472 or [email protected]
