Prominent NYC Law Firm to Award Outstanding High School Senior with Academic Scholarship
For the 2nd year in a row, the Law Office of Ivan M. Diamond is pleased to offer the "NYC Born and Raised Scholarship."
NEW YORK, May 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Law Office of Ivan M. Diamond is currently accepting scholarship applications from New York City high school seniors for its annual "NYC Born and Raised Scholarship." The scholarship recognizes NYC students who display integrity, courage and perseverance in the face of all odds.
"I'm excited to announce this year's scholarship. As a true New Yorker and proud product of the New York City public school system, this scholarship is just one of the ways for me to give back to a community I take great pride in and benefited from growing up," stated attorney and scholarship founder, Ivan M. Diamond.
To be eligible for this $2,500 scholarship, students must be seniors at one of New York City's high schools and must plan to attend college within New York City beginning in the fall semester of 2017. The scholarship payment will be made directly to the award recipient's school and is to be used exclusively for tuition and other educational expenses.
Last year, Diamond's firm awarded the scholarship to Jose A. Mendoza, a 2016 graduate of A. Philip Randolph High School in Harlem. Despite a troubled home life, Jose excelled in all subject areas in high school, earning a spot on the Principal's Honor Roll for four consecutive years. He also acted as co-founder of the A. Philip Randolph High School Math Club, served as coach assistant for the wrestling team and spent three years on the school's lacrosse team.
"Like other recipients before him, Jose is a true example of what it means to possess New York values even when the odds were stacked against him," stated Diamond. "I look forward to reading the 2017 applications from other inspirational students who refused to let challenges stop them from achieving their goals and pursuing their education."
