COLUMBIA, S.C., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Recent results from a survey of current Provost Academy students and parents report that 98 percent are satisfied with the overall quality of the education they are receiving.  The same 98 percent highly recommend the online school to those families seeking the more engaging and personalized online learning experience offered by Provost Academy South Carolina.  Both of these totals are an increase from last year's 95 percent ratings.

Provost Academy is a state-authorized public online high school that is tuition-free to residents of South Carolina.  Nearly 1,400 students are currently enrolled in the school, and working toward their regular public high school diploma that is recognized by colleges and employers.

"It's very encouraging to receive such a high review and recommendation rate from our students and parents," said Dr. Darrell Johnson, executive director of Provost Academy South Carolina. "We take pride in listening to the needs of our students and making adjustments where needed. It is evident by this feedback that our efforts are well-received."

The survey asked students and parents to rank their level of satisfaction from very satisfied to very unsatisfied in a variety of areas including curriculum; communication with instructors; quality of technology provided; overall quality of the Provost Academy online learning environment; sense of community; enrollment process; overall level of satisfaction with Provost Academy; and recommendation of the school to others.

Categories that were most favorably ranked by students and parents included the enrollment process; overall satisfaction with Provost Academy; the technology package provided; and recommendation rate.

"Throughout my career in public education, I have never had so many parents and students say to me that they have had more personal contact with teachers, advisors, and other families as they have this year," Dr. Johnson said.  "From day one, we have been committed to providing each and every student the best learning experience they have ever had, and I am proud that our efforts are meeting the educational needs for over a thousand South Carolina families."
