Pulse Energy and Sierra Wireless enhance energy efficiency with cellular solution to monitor and analyze energy usage

Sierra Wireless AirLink(TM) intelligent wireless gateways integrated with Pulse(TM) connector dataloggers eliminate the need for wirelines and streamline integration

VANCOUVER, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Pulse Energy, a leading provider of energy management solutions, and Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) have collaborated to deliver cutting edge cellular deployments that enable customers to more efficiently monitor and manage energy usage.

Sierra Wireless provides a broad portfolio of high performance mobile computing and M2M (machine-to-machine) products, including mobile broadband modems, embedded wireless modules, and intelligent gateways and routers. Pulse Energy's portfolio consists of hardware and software, that when combined create an end-to-end energy management deployment.

The combined solution consists of an AirLink intelligent gateway connected to the Pulse Connector, which transmits metering data over a cellular carrier network to Pulse Energy for benchmarking and analysis. By integrating the Sierra Wireless AirLink intelligent gateways, powered by ALEOS(TM) intelligence, with the Pulse(TM) Connector, Pulse Energy has created an environment where customers can deploy a sophisticated energy management solution without having to run new data cabling or install additional IT infrastructure. Once the solution is deployed, data is analyzed and archived, allowing end customers to monitor energy usage and efficiency in real-time with the Pulse(TM) Web Application, a Software as a Service (SaaS) tool. In addition to the ability to manage their energy remotely from anywhere in the world with the Pulse(TM) Web Application, customers and Pulse Energy can configure and manage the Sierra Wireless AirLink devices with a comprehensive suite of AirLink device management tools, which minimizes field visits and enhances overall solution availability.

The 3G solution has already been deployed at several customer sites, including Waterfront Properties, owned by Cadillac Fairview, one of North America's largest investors, owners and managers of commercial real estate. The combined solution greatly reduced installation times and the total cost of ownership of the energy management solution.
