PUNTO Founders Celebrate Second Year and Expand Give Back Initiatives, Arts Programs and Welcome Weddings
NEW YORK, Dec. 31, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- PUNTO Space (PUNTO), a three-level venue located in Midtown West and founded by Debora Balardini, Duke York and Sandie Luna, wraps up 2015 in celebration of its second year in business as a space for events, performances and art happenings. PUNTO attributes its growing success in the events and performing arts community to three guiding principles: collaboration, excellence and community. Mile-marker indicators of a successful year include Nettles Artists Collective (NAC) as its resident theater group, which recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary in the space. NAC, which has a mission to imbue the American stage with authentic, diverse voices, also had a sold out preview of its current project, Apple of My Eye (AOME), at PUNTO in 2015.
Since Balardini, Luna and York launched the venue to be a creative haven for private events, weddings, art happenings and performances, PUNTO has rolled out arts programs, #PUNTOGivesBack and #PUNTOInspires, initiatives that recognize its mission and business plan to support cultural growth, philanthropy and the arts. The venue has supported mission-based collaborations in 2015, including grassroots organizations Keep Thy Soul Beautiful (KTSB), Apple Motor Love to benefit Henry Street Settlement, Debra, the HOPE Program, Center for Court Innovation – UPNEXT, Grace Institute, and Institute for Human Identity (IHI), among others.
PUNTO has worked with top brands that include Anheuser-Busch, Uptown Fashion Week, Double Verify, xAd, Uzo Aduba, and Dana Farber Foundation and continues to receive growing interest from fashion week events, tech, broadcasting and non-profits.
Debora Balardini states: "I think that one of the things we will focus on in the new year is welcoming brides to our venue and collaborating more with our artistic community."
Duke York states: "I have an affinity for the clean lines and blank canvas PUNTO provides to event professionals and artists alike. It's good to see we have something to offer that differentiates our brand."
Newly wedded Sandie Luna states: "In the new year, we'll focus on expanding the reach of our mission to the events and performances community with programs with NAC, our theater resident, and in-house programs."
In 2016 the founders anticipate becoming a minority- and women-owned business enterprise (M/WBE). PUNTO's founders look forward to continuing their collaboration with East 3rd Productions for the Tennessee Williams project as a part of NAC salons, reading series and related projects, which are in alignment with its art mission. PUNTO's founders are also slated to travel to Europe and Brazil for AOME, which has also received interest from UNICEF.
