Quantum3D and Intelligent Decisions to Demonstrate U.S. Army Dismounted Solider Training System at AUSA
Soldiers Demo Industry's First Wearable and Fully Immersive Combat Simulation Training Platform in Booth 4045
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of visual computing solutions for government and commercial applications, and Intelligent Decisions (ID), Inc., today announced they will be demonstrating ID's new Dismounted Soldier Training System (DSTS) at the 2011 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition from Oct. 10-12 in Washington, DC. Quantum3D and ID recently partnered to integrate Quantum3D's award-winning ExpeditionDI into the training system, led by the Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI). ExpeditionDI is the industry's first self-contained, wearable and fully-immersive close combat training platform, and will be demonstrated at Quantum3D's booth #4045.
"As part of the Dismounted Solider Training System, ExpeditionDI provides a realistic virtual environment to train infantry squads to move and interact as they would in a real-world battle situation," said Arthur Yan, president, Quantum3D. "At AUSA, our goal is to demonstrate the virtual training system's effectiveness in creating a sense of realism and ultimately reinforcing the collaborative and communicative skills needed by soldiers to achieve mission success."
ExpeditionDI is a man-worn, fully-immersive virtual simulation platform, providing a collective training environment where trainees are jointly immersed in safe and realistic virtual scenarios. The various virtual scenarios challenge participants to move and act as individuals and simultaneously maintain the communication and coordination necessary to function effectively as a team in order to achieve mission success. Equipped with a high-resolution Head Mounted Display (HMD), powerful battery-powered wearable computing pack, and inertial sensors for motion detection, ExpeditionDI responds simultaneously to multiple body and weapon movements. For further flexibility, systems can be networked to larger scale exercises to support the simulation of synchronized combined arms and joint forces training.
"AUSA represents every American soldier and we are honored to be partnering with Quantum3D at the association's annual meeting and exposition to demonstrate our cutting-edge Dismounted Soldier Training solution," said Gino Antonelli, executive vice president, Intelligent Decisions. "The ultimate goal of this first-ever, fully-immersive training system is to ensure that every soldier is prepared for combat and that they realize success on the battlefield."
The Dismounted Soldier Training System will also be demonstrated at the U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence Hospitality Tent at the Army Ten-Miler on Sunday, Oct. 9 and at the PEO-STRI podium in the ASA (ALT) booth (#6328) at the 2011 AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition.
