NEW YORK, April 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Quixotic Endeavors, filmmaker Matthew Miele's multimedia production company, announced today it will be producing a new documentary celebrating the legacy of Coca-Cola with a compelling narrative centered on the timeless and eponymous Coca-Cola bottle. On the heels of Miele's acclaimed documentary, Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's and the upcoming Tiffany & Co. documentary to be released this Summer, Miele, along with fellow Quixotic producer/director Justin Bare and the rest of the Quixotic team, will next focus their lens on the curvy glass bottle that has become a global symbol of Americana and a muse to designers, artists and filmmakers for a century. Familiar with their previous works and supportive of their unique approach and vision for the project, The Coca-Cola Company has authorized Quixotic's documentary to serve as the definitive story of the legacy of the Coca-Cola brand and the iconic bottle.
"When I can hold up a Coca-Cola bottle and ask, 'is this art or is this commerce?' and most commonly hear 'it's both,' that sets the stage for an intriguing narrative," said Miele, adding, "and when the signature influencers equally weighing in on that answer range from world leaders to artists, musicians to sports stars, it's pretty enthralling. I'm incredibly excited Coca-Cola has given Quixotic not only the authorization to create this story - but unrivaled access to their history, partners and archives."
"The team of filmmakers at Quixotic Endeavors has a passion for telling stories of iconic subjects in a way that is informative, compelling and illuminating," said Katie Bayne, Vice President Sparkling Brands, The Coca-Cola Company. "We are excited to give Quixotic access to the great stories of Coca-Cola, some of which are well told while others have never been heard before, to create this authorized documentary. We hope that beyond being entertained, audiences worldwide will enjoy this great reminder of the brand's lasting legacy in the year that we celebrate the 100th anniversary of our great icon, the Coca-Cola bottle."
Quixotic will both historically and artistically capture the story through numerous perspectives and interviews with notable personalities and luminaries across various industries. The documentary will focus on a number of seminal moments in the brand's history and in the life of the Coca-Cola bottle since its invention in 1915 and through its influence on pop art, cinema, fashion, music, business, advertising, design and beyond. As with Quixotic's previous documentaries, the film will be a celebration of heritage, culture, and the spirit of an iconic brand's significance over a lifetime.
The film is set to premiere in November, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the official date the Coca-Cola bottle was patented in 1915.
