SIERRA MADRE, Calif., April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On April 22, 2014, Rachelle Arizmendi was sworn into the office of Sierra Madre Council Member after winning election on April 8, 2014.

Despite a California Filipino population of 1.5 million, Arizmendi is one of only a handful of Filipino-American women to hold elective office in California.

Rachelle Arizmendi stated "I am grateful for the faith and confidence of the voters of Sierra Madre. I look forward to representing the 11,000 residents of Sierra Madre and working to keep Sierra Madre great!"

Rachelle Arizmendi is committed to establishing and enforcing fiscal discipline, limiting and controlling development, keeping downtown Sierra Madre an appealing and neighborhood friendly area, and working with the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) to strengthen neighborhood schools.
