SANTA FE, N.M., June 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- RainbowVision Santa Fe cut the ribbon with resident members, government officials and the larger Santa Fe community, June 10th, 2006, during a weekend of festivities. RainbowVision was built to offer LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) people an opportunity to live in a community along with Allies in what RainbowVision is called today a "Community of Living Diversity". "Community of Living Diversity" was coined by one of the Allied members to reflect the growing understanding of what the experience of life means at RainbowVision. Incorporating sexual orientation and gender diversity, the new definition includes professions, walks of life, age, and place of origin, culture, family group identification, religion and philosophies.
LGBT members are drawn to a community where respect is not optional; members live freely and openly never fearing reprisals or mistreatment for whom they are in respect to gender or orientation. These are issues that continue to concern the retirement/assisted living industry regardless of location and community size.
Many Allies live at RainbowVision, to date about 40+% of the population, for the very reasons of diversity, creative activities and breathtaking design. It is a community like no other.
RainbowVision Santa Fe continues in a groundbreaking tradition, often creating new models that flow into mainstream communities around the country: Enhanced Living Services, Transitional Residences, an award winning restaurant that participates in public events, the world famous SilverStarlight Lounge and a top of the line fitness center.
RainbowVision's fifth anniversary arrives in spite of the economic downturn, supporting a rapidly growing community in both Independent and Assisted Living.
