LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- As a way to say "thank you" to the professional drivers who keep America moving, Rand McNally has kicked off a five-month long trucker appreciation tour featuring two trucks with custom-built trailers that will visit Pilot and Flying J travel centers from coast-to-coast.
Beginning in Louisville, Kentucky at the Mid-America Trucking Show, the tour will provide opportunities for drivers to interact with Rand McNally's IntelliRoute® TND™ navigation products specifically designed for the over-the-road driver. Two road teams will visit more than 200 Pilot and Flying J locations during a twenty-two week period, providing the truck driving public with navigation demonstrations, giveaways, games and activities, as well as the opportunity to enter a Navigator of the Year contest.
Sponsored by NAVTEQ, the Navigator of the Year program will award $25,000 to a driver found to be the top navigator. Eligible drivers may enter the contest online, answering a series of short questions about their lives on the road and why they should be named Navigator of the Year. The winner will be featured at the Great American Truck Show in Dallas, Texas this August.
Drivers and fans can get the most up-to-date information on the tour as well as enter Navigator of the Year by going to Trucking.RandMcNally.com and clicking on the Moving America link.
"We are pleased to present this tour along with our partners," said Dave Muscatel, CEO of Rand McNally. "America's commercial drivers are key partners in our success as we design products and services to meet their unique business needs. Moving America is our chance to show appreciation while enabling the driving public to be educated on the critical differences between truck navigation, and car navigation."
One of the custom trailers will be featured at the Mid-America Trucking Show, in an outside booth location. The two Moving America drivers will be on hand to meet the public before they officially take off on the tour.
