College Match Up uses a unique personality-type centered approach to college advice and rankings. With their ENTP ranking, they have now ordered their top college recommendations for all sixteen Myers-Briggs personality types.
St. John's College (Annapolis, MD) leads the ranking, with Soka University of America (Aliso Viejo, CA) and St. John's College (Sante Fe, NM) representing the second and third placements, respectively.
The ranking, which sampled the 500 most well-known schools in the United States, was based on three metrics: student-faculty ratio, majors in the liberal arts, and unique or alternative school mission statements. These metrics were chosen to specifically bring out the best in ENTP students. Reasoning behind each metric may be seen in aspects of the personality of ENTPs. Such as the fact that they draw energy from others (extroversion) but especially in small, goal-driven groups (student-faculty ratio). Or that ENTPs learn from jumping into the perspective of others (majors in liberal arts). Or that they tend to be freethinking, and enjoy bouncing their ideas off of like-minded individuals (universities with unique or alternative missions).
Other schools featured in the ranking include (in alphabetical order):
New College of Florida (Sarasota, FL)
Yeshiva University (New York City, NY)
United States Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, CO)
The New School (New York City, NY)
Berea College (Berea, KY)
Goucher College (Towson, MD)
United States Military Academy (West Point, NY)
United States Naval Academy (Annapolis, MD)
Azusa Pacific University (Azusa, CA)
Brown University (Providence, RI)
California Institute of Technology (tie) (Pasadena, CA)
Claremont Mckenna College (Claremont, CA)
Spelman College (Atlanta, GA)
Berry College (Mount Berry, GA)
Harvey Mudd College (Claremont, CA)
Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago, IL)
Marlboro College (Marlboro, VT)
Principia College (Elsah, IL)
Sarah Lawrence College (Yonkers, NY)
University of California (Santa Barbara) (Santa Barbara, CA)
Thomas Aquinas College (Santa Paula, CA)
Houghton College (Houghton, NY)
Notable trends in the ranking include the large number of Armed Forces Academies, work colleges, Claremont Consortium schools, and both St. John College locations. Across university types, another notable trend for our ENTP ranking is the high density of schools that allow students to fully design their own course of study.
