Ranorex Celebrates 10 Years of Innovative Software Testing Solutions

GRAZ, Austria, Sept. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ranorex GmbH (Ranorex, www.ranorex.com), a provider of innovative software testing solutions with offices in Graz, Austria and Clearwater, Florida, marked its tenth anniversary this month. The tech company that began as a father-son side project has grown to over 100 employees serving 3,500 customers worldwide.

In 2004, Jenö Herget was a programmer working on a software development team in Graz, the second largest city in Austria. The team wanted to automate the repetitive tasks inherent in software testing, but Herget could find no suitable product on the market. To him, the solution was simple: create his own tool that testers and developers could share. Herget said of this first version, "I was certain that this solution could revolutionize the way testers and developers ensure the quality of their software products."

Together with his son Gabor, Herget decided to create a free testing tool and share it online. The father-son duo spent many hours sitting together in their living room, coding until the early hours of the morning. It was a project they were both passionate about – and their passion paid off. Shortly after the two released their first publicly-available free test automation solution in 2006, it was recognized at the biggest yearly .NET conference in Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, the BASTA.

The enthusiastic reception to their project encouraged the duo to develop a professional version of their testing tool. Soon, it became clear that their rapidly-growing customer base – some of which were large, international companies – also needed professional support. With assistance from EOSS Industries Holding GmbH, Jenö and Gabor Herget founded Ranorex in September 2007. The first team members were Christoph Preschern, Michael Gissing, and Alexander Hoisl.

Today, more than 3,500 customers in over 60 countries are using Ranorex. While the company's offices in Graz, Austria, and Clearwater, Florida have grown to more than 100 employees, all five of the original team members are still with Ranorex. Jenö Herget is Managing Director and CEO, while Gabor Herget is Managing Director and CTO. Preschern is Managing Director and CSO, heads the sales team and also serves as the president of Ranorex USA. Hoisl is the VP of Product Development, and Gissing is the VP of Research.

The core mission of Ranorex is "test automation for everyone."
