Rasmussen College, Inc. Strengthens Business by Investing in the Whole of Its Employees
Online Education Provider Offers Significant Development Opportunities
CHICAGO, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Recently named one of the "Top 20 Companies Hiring Now" and "Top 100 Companies for Working Families," Rasmussen College, Inc. credits much of its success to the strength of its employee base. Thus, as the organization begins the 2010 fiscal year, Rasmussen continues to expand its long-standing efforts to provide employees and their families with a wide range of opportunities for growth and betterment, from health care benefits to professional development.
"Rasmussen invests in the ongoing development and long-term support of every employee through a variety of mediums designed to support the whole of the employee and the qualities that enhance our organization and the communities we serve," said Greg Finkelstein, the Vice President of Human Capital and Corporate Communications at Rasmussen. "Tuition scholarships, enhanced medical benefits, employee professional growth opportunities and community involvement are just a few of the reasons our company is consistently recognized as a great place to work."
By investing in its employees and their families, Rasmussen strengthens its ability to assist students as they grow, which in turn helps them strengthen their appeal to the local employers who will hire them.
Rasmussen's impressive employee benefits package includes:
Employee Scholarships
All scholarships awarded through Rasmussen College, Inc. are offered without an employee commitment clause. They include the Nemitz Family Scholarship Program, which is designed to support employees, their spouses, partners and children as they pursue higher education through Rasmussen College with limited investment. The Marvin Wachman Scholarship Program is designed to afford qualified family members the opportunity to pursue master's and doctoral degrees through the Deltak partner institutions either free or at significantly reduced tuition rates. Finally, the soon-to-be released Thurston Manning Scholarship Program is designed specifically for Rasmussen faculty and will provide support as they pursue advanced degrees in their field of study.
Expanded Family Benefits
Beyond the educational support provided for spouses, partners and children, Rasmussen invests heavily in its employees and their families. With expansive family medical coverage, short and long-term disability programs and a 401(k) program with healthy organization-funded matching, Rasmussen understands the importance family plays in the success of all individuals.
Professional Development
Rasmussen has a history of commitment to the professional development of its employees. In recent years, additional key investments were made to bolster these efforts. In 2008, the Rasmussen system established an Organizational Development branch with the purpose of providing expanded employee support programs. The first of these programs, the Rasmussen Leadership Institute (RLI), was launched in 2009. RLI is a forum for some of the organization's most successful managers to interact and form relationships with company leaders, be immersed in business education and nurture their strong leadership skills, all of which contribute to their professional development. In September 2009, 24 leaders within the Rasmussen organization graduated from RLI following more than six months of training, workshops and professional development.
Recognition Programs
Each campus and central office has developed local awards programs to recognize its employees. One such program is the REMy Award (standing for Rasmussen Excellence Moment). This award is given at each of Rasmussen's central offices on a monthly basis to the team member who has displayed excellence in their professional work. On a system-wide basis, Rasmussen also recognizes employees in academics, operations and central services through the Harlan Employee Recognition Program, given to those who have stepped outside the normal scope of their roles to support Rasmussen communities, employees or students.
Community Involvement
By operating in partnership with local communities, Rasmussen creates a bond between the organization, its employees and the communities they serve. In the first nine months of 2009, Rasmussen hosted or participated in more than 50 local community service projects, ranging from blood drives to Relay for Life. On July 17, 2009, Rasmussen employees participated in 3,600 cumulative hours of community service across five states as part of a company-wide community day. The Epilepsy Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers and Goodwill Easter Seals were among the organizations that benefited from this outreach.
Rasmussen leaders understand that by supporting employees and their families, they raise levels of employee satisfaction and productivity, which guarantees excellent support of both their students and the communities they collectively serve. Many of the programs in Rasmussen's suite of benefits were suggested and are currently fostered by employees at all levels and not merely by senior administration. This reinforces the reputation Rasmussen has established as an employer of choice around the country. As Rasmussen expands into new regions, it continues to focus on recruiting top talent to maintain and expand its culture in new marketplaces.
