Read Naturally® Signs for Sounds™ Spelling Program Now Available
ST. PAUL, Minn., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Read Naturally, Inc. announces the release of Signs for Sounds, a spelling program that uses research-based strategies to teach students how to spell words with both regular and irregular spelling patterns.
Signs for Sounds can be used either to support core reading and spelling instruction or as a spelling intervention. Teachers can use the program in regular classrooms, small groups, or one-to-one settings. Signs for Sounds enables students to master the correspondence between sounds and letters in words with regular spelling patterns. Students can then apply what they have learned to successfully spell unfamiliar words. Signs for Sounds also provides a strategy for teaching students how to spell high-frequency words with irregular spelling patterns.
Signs for Sounds is available in two levels, each $59.00. Each level includes a teacher's manual, blackline masters of student forms, and a hand-held lesson guide that teachers can use as they present each lesson.
- Signs for Sounds 1 teaches first-grade-level phonics skills and the first 50 high-frequency words.
- Signs for Sounds 2 reviews level 1 and teaches second- and third-grade-level phonics skills and the first 100 high-frequency words.
Read Naturally's Signs for Sounds is an expanded version of a program originally developed by Bechthold Publications. Signs for Sounds in its original format has been used by students and teachers in thousands of classrooms across the country for nearly thirty years. "We've acquired a strong program and made it even better," Read Naturally CEO and co-founder, Tom Ihnot, said. "Signs for Sounds is a powerful tool for teaching phonics and spelling skills, and the early response from our customers has been extremely positive."
