NEW YORK and NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas, Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- HealthMarkets Insurance Company (www.hmic-medicare.com) and The Reader's Digest Association, Inc. (RDA), parent company of Reader's Digest – one of America's best known and trusted brands – today announced a partnership that will deliver a new basic Prescription Drug Plan (Medicare Part D) option for Seniors with Medicare.

The Reader's Digest Value Rx Prescription Drug Plan will be available to Medicare beneficiaries in all states except New York with enrollment starting in October for coverage beginning January 1, 2013. Benefits of the plan include:

  • Co-pays on medications as low as $1
  • Ability to use any of the 63,000 independent and chain pharmacies in the plan's nationwide network
  • Generic and brand name drug coverage
  • Convenient home delivery options

Enrollment in the Reader's Digest Value Rx Prescription Drug Plan is open to all consumers, and is not limited to subscribers of Reader's Digest magazine.

The Plan also features member-only offers that include discounted subscriptions to Reader's Digest magazine and a 20 percent discount on most of the hundreds of products available at the Reader's Digest online store at www.RDStore.com – including health and wellness books, music, videos and magazines.

As part of the partnership, Reader's Digest and HealthMarkets Insurance Company will promote the Prescription Drug Plan in print in Reader's Digest magazine, and digitally on www.ReadersDigest.com.
